Welcome to my blog!
My name is Jeffrey Neal and I am an Orange County Photographer!

This is where you can see all that I am doing in the world of photography!  On my blog you will find the latest images from all the shoots that I have, information for my clients and any other crazy ideas or projects that I have.
I usually do not post non-wedding shoots on this blog but I really wanted to share a few images from the last week.  I met Jared from Red Tail Media when he and his lovely fiancé Christy booked me to shoot their wedding.  Since then Jared and I have started to collaborate on some projects with his business partner Chris.

This last week we were in LA shooting at two schools trying to get some really cool ESPN looking shots that really would get people excited about the sports programs at these private schools.  So, here are just a few from the two days.

Jeff, these look great!! I think it's awesome that you and Jared are able to collaborate on projects. I especially love the first pic..Marijon's eyes look amazing and really convey the stories of 4 decades of coaching. Can't wait to see the final product!

Rad. I'll send you the stair shot this afternoon. I love the shot of Ancic. That one is pretty much done right outta the box, no processing required.

A few month ago I had the privilege of shooting in Newport Beach at Mike Colón's workshop.  As most of you know by now (it is not a secret) I love film.  So when I saw these fields and the model that we were shooting I could not help but shoot a little film.  Again, I just love the look that medium format gives.  I also love that there is no post processing with film, just send it to the lab and your done.

Brides, if you are wondering, please ask about my film packages.  Here are a few images from the day!

I was so stoked the other night when I was at dinner with my amazing clients Laura and Scott to get an email letting me know that an image of mine placed 3rd in an AGWPJA contest.  It is always a great felling when others like your work as much as you do.  Check it out!

On Saturday I had my first Jiu Jitsu Gi competition in Carson and it happened to be the National Championship.  I was able to shoot some events before my first match and got some awesome images.  My buddy Mike Colon took the whole thing wining the title in his weight class as a blue belt and also wining the open class as a blue belt.  Mike is a very determined person and has been training very hard for this competition.  It was such a pleasure to see all of that hard work play off and for him to take home two Golds.

As for my match, I lost in the last 15 seconds.  I was going according to my game plan and pretty much things were going my way.  I had brought him into my guard and when he went to break it I took his back getting four points ahead.  Being a rookie I went for a choke and left my own neck exposed and he took advantage of it and got me in a choke and I tapped with 15 seconds left.  I was so bummed and frustrated that I made such a simple and stupid mistake but I did learn a lot and was so grateful for the opportunity.  I will just have to go back and train that much harder for my next competition.  Check out the images and give Mike some love for his victory!

Nice photos. Do you and Mike train together? It's funny to think of two of the best photographers in SoCal teaming up and sparring.
