Welcome to my blog!
My name is Jeffrey Neal and I am an Orange County Photographer!

This is where you can see all that I am doing in the world of photography!  On my blog you will find the latest images from all the shoots that I have, information for my clients and any other crazy ideas or projects that I have.
I can not say enough about how excited I am to get back film.  I shot a ton of film when I was in Switzerland over Christmas and have been meaning to post this for a long time but just got busy.

I was so happy to see came of all these images from Switzerland.  There is just something so magic about film and that way it looks.  All of these were shot on my Holga with Fuji 800.  I am pretty sure a few of these are going to be in my house.

As we continue to shoot this "The American Craft Brewer" project I am becoming more and more infatuated with the passion all these brewers have in creating craft beer.  Listening to their stories and what they put into each different brew to make their beer unique is jaw dropping.  There is something really unique happening in the craft beer world that you are going to want to be a part of, I really think this movement will be in the history books.

Yesterday, I was at Stone Brewing Co. to shoot some portraits and document the making of a collaboration brew between Stone, Victory and Dogfish Head.  Once they tasted the test batch and all agreed upon the beer we got to see Greg, Bill and Sam "mash in" the first batch of this collaboration brew.  I do not think I am at liberty to "sai" what it is yet but I will tell you that it will be amazing.

Here are a few shots from the day and one is of the "buff" boys adding in the specialty malts.

Rock! That is the most hardcore photo I have EVER seen of a craft brewer. Also, you couldn't possibly have captured Bill's personality better than that. Bad ass.

Craft beer is an art form in and of itself!  It has been so exciting to glimpse into the world of craft beer and hear the amazing stories of each of the brewers.  The time, thought, science and creativity that goes into every craft beer is inspiring and heart warming.  I really believe that craft beer is more of an experience offered then just having a beer.

The word "Pub" is short for the word "Public House".  The idea is a place to meet, have fellowship, discuss politics and life and doing all of this over a nice glass of hand-cfrafted beer.  The head brewers of each "Pub" take great pride in giving there patrons an excellent glass of beer to enjoy while meeting and discussing daily issues or just catching with their friends.  This project of shooting and learning the stories of each brewer has been tremendously rewarding.

This is a shot of Shaun O'Sullivan from 21st Amendment brewery in San Francisco.  He flew down yesterday to tell his story and let me grab a few shots of him.  Check out his site and try one of his beers.

I have been super stoked for this post.  Last Wednesday I headed up to San Francisco to start shooting this project with Redtail Media called the American Craft Brewer.  I can not give all the details of this project yet but trust me you will be hearing a lot about this.  The basic idea is to put together a photo essay and video that tells the story of the craft brewers in America.  If you would like to you can check out the "I am a Craft Brewer" piece done by Redtail Media to get an idea of how awesome this will be.

The stories of each of these brewers are so inspiring.  They are artists in their own right living the American dream by creating a "beer experience" that is unlike anything you have ever tasted.  So much thought, creativity, passion, science and hard work goes into every beer that they create.  If you have never had a "craft beer" I suggest that you try one as soon as you can.  I will put links to the brewery's that we shot so that you can order some beer or just go to Bev Mo and get some.

Here are some of my favorite shots from my time out there.  The idea is to create images of brewers that are just as creative as the beers that they are making and something that the beer industry has never seen before.  Let me know your thoughts.

I have been up in San Francisco since wednesday shooting an amazing project for the California Small Brewers Association and while we were driving to Sierra Nevada I stumbled upon this amazing scene and had to shoot it.  There is something so inspiring about the color and symmetry of God's creation.  As I look at images like this it helps me remember how small I am in this world and appreciate how much joy there is for us to experience.

It is scenes like this that make me want to explore all that life has to offer and dive in to the endless possibilities that are out there.  There is so much beauty in this world that is not pondered on as long as it deserves.

I will be posting images soon from my shoot out here but I thought I would just show you these for now.  Enjoy, and pursue the beauty of life.
