Yesterday I went to the Orange Circle to do a cute little engagement session with Julie and William. They are getting married in two weeks and were so excited to for their engagement session. We met at Starbucks and I was stoked when they said that they had brought a bunch of clothes and I could choose what I wanted to shoot them in. It was perfect!!
We shot around the Circle finding our way into a very cool antique that had perfect light and a great backdrop to shoot in. They were both so easy going and so much fun to shoot. I am super stoked for their wedding. Enjoy!
Here are all of them!

On Saturday I had my first Jiu Jitsu Gi competition in Carson and it happened to be the National Championship. I was able to shoot some events before my first match and got some awesome images. My buddy Mike Colon took the whole thing wining the title in his weight class as a blue belt and also wining the open class as a blue belt. Mike is a very determined person and has been training very hard for this competition. It was such a pleasure to see all of that hard work play off and for him to take home two Golds.
As for my match, I lost in the last 15 seconds. I was going according to my game plan and pretty much things were going my way. I had brought him into my guard and when he went to break it I took his back getting four points ahead. Being a rookie I went for a choke and left my own neck exposed and he took advantage of it and got me in a choke and I tapped with 15 seconds left. I was so bummed and frustrated that I made such a simple and stupid mistake but I did learn a lot and was so grateful for the opportunity. I will just have to go back and train that much harder for my next competition. Check out the images and give Mike some love for his victory!

Nice photos. Do you and Mike train together? It's funny to think of two of the best photographers in SoCal teaming up and sparring.

This past Saturday I was at the Hyatt Huntington Beach shooting a beautiful wedding with a fellow wedding photographer and good guy Donny from from Heavenly Portraits. I always love second shooting because there is no pressure and it reminds me of why of love wedding photography. When I second shoot I always try out new techniques and play with light as much as I can. As an added bonus being at the Huntington Beach Hyatt is always so gorgeous. Here are a few from the day that I just love and you can see the rest at the bottom.

I was so stoked when the girls over at Utterly Engaged asked me if they could talk about my recent trip Africa. I absolutely love being a wedding photographer because it allows me to spend time giving back and doing things that I love. I had the blessing of being able to go serve in Africa and document all that we did. It was so amazing to spend the time that I did in the hospital in Midigo, Uganda because I really felt like I was able to make a connection with the people and I hope that my images express that.
Please go Check out the Utterly Engaged site and see all the amazing things that they are bringing to the table for budget savvy brides.

Hi Jeff, I'm the editor from MetMedia Video and got a chance to work closely with all of your photos in editing the fusion piece. I just wanted to say that your photography is absolutely superb. It was a pleasure cutting the piece together and nice knowing that I could always turn to your photos if I wanted to add to the moment. From the looks of the footage it looks like you and Jonathan had a great time shooting it! Fantastic work! I'm a new jnpstudiosblog.com regular!
