Welcome to my blog!
My name is Jeffrey Neal and I am an Orange County Photographer!

This is where you can see all that I am doing in the world of photography!  On my blog you will find the latest images from all the shoots that I have, information for my clients and any other crazy ideas or projects that I have.
On Saturday I went down to the beautiful La Costa Resort and Spa for Corinne and Stephen's wedding.  I had not had much time to get to know these two because they live in Texas, but I knew from the consultation that it was going to be a great day!  You can tell these two are madly in love and just enjoy life with each other.  It never hurts that they are both really good looking people.

On the wedding day Corinne was such a calm bride.  I loved how they had odd numbers in the wedding party and how the bridesmaids all had different color dresses.  Corinne had a gorgeous Reem Acra dress that looked stunning on.  For me one of the best things of the day were all the white walls that reflected mazing light all over La Costa, it was amazing to shoot there.  Thank you Corrine and Stephen and all your family for such a wonderful day!  Have a great time on your honeymoon.

I usually do not post non-wedding shoots on this blog but I really wanted to share a few images from the last week.  I met Jared from Red Tail Media when he and his lovely fiancĂ© Christy booked me to shoot their wedding.  Since then Jared and I have started to collaborate on some projects with his business partner Chris.

This last week we were in LA shooting at two schools trying to get some really cool ESPN looking shots that really would get people excited about the sports programs at these private schools.  So, here are just a few from the two days.

Ok, here is the long awaited part one of this awesome engagement session.  Right when Christy and Jared booked they were set on doing a destination engagement session in Yosemite, CA.  I was so excited because I have not been there since I was in the sixth grade and I have never shot an engagement session there either.  I have only done a few destination engagement sessions but they are always extremely fun because I really get to know my clients in a much different way spending the whole weekend with them.  Another advantage is I usually dedicate the whole time to making awesome images.

Jared is a huge fan of Ansel Adams, as am I, so we wanted to do a sort of homage to him with there engagement shoot.  They both gave me so much creative freedom to shoot this session the way I wanted which I love.  I also know that it must have been a little more difficult for Jared as he is an amazing and very accomplished artist with his films.

We set out to shoot at 6:30a so that we could really chase the good light all day in Yosemite valley.  Our agenda was really determined by the light and of course our appetite's when we got hungry.  Christy and Jared both were very inspiring to shoot and the whole weekend reminded me of why I love my job.  It was not work at all but a day of creating with two amazing people that are madly in love.  I found such joy in their interaction with each other.  They are both very sarcastic and playful but have a real depth to their relationship and an honesty that is both inspiring and contagious.

I also have to thank Jonathan Metcalf from Met Media Video who came and filmed the whole shoot and is putting together an amazing fusion piece that I will show here on the blog as soon as he is finished with it.  I will also be posting some teaser video as I get it from him.  Ok, enough talk here are some of the images from the day!

I'm blown away man. Stunning. The shot with the craggy tree roots is incredible and the 1.2 mi. hike to mirror lake was totally worth it. Also, you know you're legit when you can use photographic magic to make Christy look sexier than me. I don't know how you managed to do that, but it worked.

Maybe it's because I know Jared... or maybe it's because they are in Yosemite... but I think these are some of the best photos you have taken for an engagement shoot. I mean, come on! Really? The fog shot? Incredible. I'm SOOO excited to see the footage Jon got.

Congratulations to Christy & Jared!

It was so inspiring watching you take in each location you scouted and then find the perfect way to use it as a backdrop for portraying Jared and Christy's playfulness and passion. The one thing that can't be seen in every picture is Christy's high heels that she wore all day long; including the 2 mile round trip hike to Mirror Lakes. Excellent work. The colors are dead on to real life.

I got back today from one of the most beautiful, inspiring, humbling, calm and divine places on earth, Yosemite, CA!  A while back I met with Jared and Christy to shoot their wedding.  Right when I met them I knew they were the perfect clients for me.  Christy is a super cute girl, who has amazing style, and a great heart for people.  Jared is one of the owner's of Redtail Media which is a Southern California production company that does some pretty amazing documentary films as well as all kinds of great film work.  I was so honored when they booked me to shoot their wedding for many reasons.

I will go more into this story in the soon to come posts but I wanted to post a little teaser for all of you waiting to see what took place.  The two shots I am posting are from a 4x5 large format camera shot on Polaroid 79 color film.  This film is absolutely amazing in the way it captures true color and holds sharpness. It is rated at ISO 100.  One was shot at F-11 and the other at F-5.6.  Can you tell which is which?  I love this film with all of its imperfections as a typical polaroid film.

Wow, this had to be one of the most adventurous weddings I have ever shot.  Shelly and Bradford are really amazing people and could not be more perfect for each other.  I say this so that you don't think that any of the shenanigans detract from this perfect couples day!

Before we went to do portraits, Shelly and Bradford went to the "old folks home" that Shelly works at so that they could all be a part of their wedding day.  It was so cute to see how they all reacted to seeing the lovely couple.  Bradford even got a kiss from another women on his wedding day!

After the that we headed down to Crystal Cove to shoot the bridal party but were stopped by the mean state trooper before we got started.  Apparently peeing out in the open on a state beach is frowned upon.  So, we turned to plan B and went to Corona Del Mar for some portraits and had a blast.  The bridal party had a little to drink but all in all we pulled it off. Then we headed to the Harborside Pavilion  for the reception.

The D.J. for the wedding was the totally fun and amazing Peter Merry who always make's the best wedding reception ever.  Notice all the pictures of people laughing!  Well, here is the post.
